The Unique Charm of Inverness
Inverness is our next door neighbor. The village runs from Barrington Road on the west to Roselle Road on the east, and from Dundee Road down to Algonquin Road, which puts its eastern edge minutes from our Palatine shop. It was platted with a one acre minimum lot size and has kept it, and Williamsburg Village is still the only business development in town. Two consequences for lighting. First, there is very little ambient light out here, no strip mall glow, no commercial signage, so a lit roofline carries much further than it would in a denser suburb. Second, the trees are old. Homes started going up in 1939 and got larger and more varied through the 1970s and 80s, and the canopy grew with them.
